Certain Opportunities are "Now or Never"

Hi Subscriber,
I have a special announcement to make. If you’re a regular listener of the podcast, you already know this. If not, I’ll share the short version with you here. AI has transformed my own business over the past year. This has certainly been a very good year for me, no matter how you measure it.

That said, it’s impossible to ignore what’s happening across many industries both on and offline. I jumped into AI in late 2022 the same way I jumped into WordPress back in 2006-07. This year, I’ve spent up to 6-7 hours a day on average mastering the current tools for my specific use case. I’ve also tested out some new AI strategies with client campaigns and the results were great.

This has brought me to an interesting intersection at this point in my career.
I have a set workload that’s scalable if the need to do so arises – which it appears to be doing. But now, I’m also currently working with a few international companies. These companies have reached out to me and can provide me with what looks like an ongoing flow of work for at least a year or more.

The great thing about this situation, at least for the next year or so, is that I also have the opportunity now to invest time into other projects that are more meaningful to me than sales and marketing.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not souring on sales and marketing as topics or activities. But there’s more information out there on these topics today to fill four lifetimes.

The point is, when opportunities find their way to your doorstep that seem fit like a glove, It’s difficult to not want to go ahead and explore them. If you’re an entrepreneur with some experience, you already know, timing is everything. Windows of opportunity don’t stay open indefinitely.

Some opportunities come and go in a narrow space of time. And most of the time, you have to go all in to get the true benefit of what’s in front of you. That includes your focus and energy.

That’s why I’ve decided to wind down certain sections of my business, at least for now, so that I can concentrate fully on these newer projects.

I will be freeze-framing my podcast as well as this newsletter for now. All of the episodes and issues will remain on the server, so no worries there. I’ll see where things are about 12 months from now and then go from there.

Based on what’s unfolding with the economy, I’m working with a one-year plan right now. Now, let me add something here that’s important. While AI has proven to be an invaluable tool for me over the past year, I also recognize that it’s also going to negatively impact quite a few jobs and businesses as well over the next year.

On the other hand, if you’re a solopreneur or have a partnership, you can now produce agency quality work in a fraction of the time that you used to, without a team and without the overhead many of the established businesses have.

It's not an exaggeration to say that you can compete with big-city agencies if you pick your niche carefully. You can also produce one-to-many products in record time. But, so can everyone else who understands how to get the most out of AI.

If there’s an old saying that applies here, it’s – “Make hay while the sun shines.”
It simply means that you should take advantage of favorable circumstances while they last, as they may not last forever.

So, to recap – I’ll be putting together a year-end podcast episode that I will release before the end of this year… and I’ll be putting my podcast and marketing newsletter in the cryogenic freeze chamber from now through 2024. Hopefully, during this time, I’ll be breaking some personal business records!

As always, thanks for reading. I’ll talk to you later!
